Who are The Green Eyed Globetrotters?

We’re Eve and Nick (aka The Green Eyed Globetrotters), and thanks so much for stopping by our hiking and adventure travel blog.

If you love adventure travel, hiking and exploring the world but can’t, or simply don’t want to, quit your job to travel full-time, then you’re in the right place.

We believe adventure doesn’t have to mean taking a year off to backpack around the world. It can happen on weekends, annual leave, or whenever you can steal a little time away from everyday life, and we want to help normalise that.

We both genuinely love our careers, but we equally love planning our next adventure, especially if it involves mountains, hiking boots and being outdoors. Through our blog, we share detailed travel guides, multi-day hiking itineraries and honest experiences to hopefully inspire others to get outside, travel more and see the world in a way that works for them.

We met as students and quickly bonded over our shared love of adventure. Since then, we’ve explored over 49 countries together and discovered a huge passion for multi-day hiking and immersive travel experiences.

Despite both working full-time in non-remote jobs, we’ve still managed to trek to Everest Base Camp, climb Mount Triglav, road trip all the National Parks in Colorado, explore Hong Kong and even get married on a mountain at sunrise in Canada.

There honestly isn’t a day that goes by without us dreaming about or planning our next trip.

If opposites attract, we’re basically a travel magnet. Nick is the history geek who gets excited about rocks, maps and nature, while Eve is the creative photographer and master organiser. Although Nick is usually the one making sure we don’t get lost (most of the time)!

Nick is a Chartered Geologist and works as a Geotechnical Engineer, but outside of work he’s usually researching hiking routes, leading walks in the mountains or trying to sneak another rock into our growing collection.

Eve studied Fine Art and Stage Management before moving into TV production. She’s backpacked solo, worked all over the world and somehow manages to keep us organised whilst Nick is busy dreaming about the next summit and challenge to undertake.

Together, we combine Nick’s love of the natural world with Eve’s creative eye to share realistic adventure travel with a lot of planning, a bit of chaos and a huge passion for exploring the world together.

Nick

Hi, I’m Nick!

My sense of adventure was sparked early on during family holidays to some pretty epic place; Mount Etna, Santorini, Pompeii, and Stromboli. I guess you could say I’ve always been drawn to mountainous and dramatic landscapes.

That fascination led me to study geology at university, where I had the chance to explore some spectacular terrain across the UK and Europe. Since then, I’ve spent much of my free time out in the hills, whether hiking locally or heading off on multi-day treks further afield such as Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal.

I’m a Chartered Geologist and a qualified Mountain Leader, but more importantly, I just love being outdoors. These days, most of my adventures are shared with Eve, from summiting passes in the Dolomites to navigating trails through Nepal and Slovenia. We even combined our love of hiking and each other by getting married in Canada, where we hiked up a mountain on our wedding day and of course celebrated with snacks at the summit!

Together, we’ve made a habit of seeking out big views, quiet moments in nature, and the occasional interesting rock to add to our growing collection!

Eve

Hi, I’m Eve!

My love for travel began at 16, when I set off on a month-long expedition through the jungles of Mexico and Belize with World Challenge. It was a life-changing adventure that sparked a passion for exploring the world, and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since!

At University, I spent my summers working at a Performing Arts Camp in New England, using my earnings to travel across the U.S. I discovered new places and travelled across the states meeting friends along the way.  Unbeknown to me at the time, I’d one day be doing the very same thing with Nick, who’s since caught the bug for ticking off U.S. states too!

Nick and I have shared some unforgettable adventures. We’ve trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, hiked the Alta Via 1 in the Italian Dolomites, and explored Slovenia’s Triglav National Park on foot. Multi-day hikes have become a favourite way for us to connect with nature and challenge ourselves.

We’ve also been lucky enough to visit Hong Kong and Singapore for my work and Colorado with Nicks. But when we’re not off exploring, we love the slower pace of home life. We live in a cosy 18th-century cottage in the English countryside, where you’ll often find muddy boots on the doorstep, a crackling fire and mug of hot chocolate waiting inside.
